Sylt is never an easy task: we’re on the North Sea and when the wind comes, it’s often a real storm, with high wind, rough sea, strong currents, killer shore break and it’s cold. Anyway our Jacopo has been able to raise our THE TURN 93 on the third step of the podium in the Freestyle Single Elimination, making another of his masterpiece! Very well done Jacopo!
Here it is his firsts feedback right after the Single Elimination:
“I’m super happy for this result!!! The day has been super hard since the beginning, with a wake-up at 6.30 AM to be ready for the first skippers meeting planned at 7.15 AM and at 7.30 AM we were already on the water!
Conditions were stormy, with solid 30-35 knots of wind, killer shore break and 2 meters waves as well! I was on my THE TURN 93 liters with a 4.0 sail that was pretty overpowered during the stronger gusts.
My first heat was against Antoine Albert, who is never an easy client! It has been a real hard fight, but in the end I managed to move on to the second round.
In the second round I was against Amado (Vrieswijk), who is just EFPT and PWA reigning champion, so I tried to throw all my best moves, going for some wave jumps and aerial freestyle moves on the way out. Luckily for me, Amado was not in one of his best heats, so again I moved on to the next round.
I’m in the semifinals and I’m against Steven (Van Broeckhoven), but this time I’m not able to find my rhythm, I miss some of my tricks and I lose.
So I found myself in contention for 3rd place against Yentel (Caers), who missed some tricks right in the beginning of the heat, but then threw his usual big moves. Luckily for me, this time I had my best performance and heat of the day, I scored 165 points and I took home 3rd place!
I’m super super happy about this result and about the tricks that I was able to perform in these stormy conditions!
